Beyond The Grave is a retro-styled RPG surrounding the topic of grief. Take on the role of Brennan, a young boy who feels responsible for the death of his sister, as he pursues a path to bring his sister back from the grave and dealing with the consequences of his actions.

My Role

For Beyond The Grave, I worked as a narrative designer. My biggest responsibility was coming up with the game’s “narrative bible", a document that consisted of how every aspect of the game would contribute to the narrative.

The Narrative Bible

The Narrative Bible was a living document for nearly every aspect of the game and how it would incorporate the narrative into it. It went through many iterations throughout the semester I was working on this project, and the final version includes things like art style, sound, mechanics, puzzles, and so much more, and how it all ties into the narrative and story the game is trying to tell.
